Widespread Panic honored by Georgia Hall of Fame

Rep. Margaret Kaiser greets members of legendary rock band Widespread Panic on Feb. 15, 2011 when the Georgia Music Hall of Fame members were honored for their 25th anniversary. Not only has Widespread Panic sold millions of albums and sold out countless concerts over the years, but the band has also generously contributed time, effort and art to many charitable organizations and relief efforts.

Rep. Kaiser Commends Atlanta Band Drivin and Cryin

Rep. Margaret Kaiser welcomes members of the Drivin’ ‘N’ Cryin’ band to the State Capitol on March 10, 2011. Rep. Kaiser introduced HR 387, commending Drivin’ ‘N’ Cryin’ on its 26 years of success in the music business. The band was formed in Atlanta in 1985.

Governor changes plan; full-day pre-kindergarten restored

Responding to the voices of educators, parents and lawmakers from across the state, Gov. Nathan Deal has reversed course on his proposal to reduce the instruction day for Georgia’s pre-kindergarten program from 6.5 hours to 4 hours. On March 7, the Governor announced his new proposal, which restores the full-day program and instead shortens the Pre-K year from 180 days to 160. He also cut back on his original proposal to add 5,000 slots to Pre-K enrollment, now recommending only 2,000 new slots.

MARTA schedules Public Hearings

MARTA will hold five public hearings to consider proposed bus service modifications for June 18, 2011 and Braves Shuttle service for the 2011 baseball season.
